Hello and welcome, welcome to my blog! My name is Rebecca, I am a native Virginian following my dream to live and teach in Spain! After an incredible study abroad experience in 2013, I couldn’t stay away. One of my biggest regrets from my first round in Spain was not documenting it better, hence the fruition of this blog!
The blog is dedicated to my loved ones trying to keep up with my travels, friends who are interested in maybe taking a year off to travel but don’t know where to start, or anyone else who has managed to delve deep enough into the internet to find me in search of every scrap of information they can get their hands on before starting their own story. I haven’t the slightest idea of how I could summarize myself in just a page, but here is my measly attempt to give you a gist!
- I have been to 18 other countries: Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Vatican City, Greece, Morocco, and India. I’ve had incredible experiences in all the places, and I can’t wait to add more to the list and watch it grow!
- I studied International Studies at Virginia Tech and absolutely loved my major.
- Outside of my general passion for international issues and the broad spectrum of international relations, I don’t have a chosen direction for my career as of yet, so I am hoping a year of growth and discovery will help me clarify what to pursue in the long-term! Who knows, maybe this will be it?!
- Even though I am of Mexican-American heritage, I learned Spanish in school and am “almost” fluent.
- I have taken one year of French and it is my next language goal, although it really isn’t going so well…
- My favorite cities are a tie between Barcelona, Spain and Santiago, Chile.
- Trashy reality TV is my guilty pleasure.
- I just asked my roommate “what are some fun facts about me” and she claims my food smells great when I cook (Thanks, Court!).
- I love quotes, this blog is chock-full of them. There is a quote I love that says:
This quote inspires me to return to Spain!

Of course! Difficult At times, but it’s something new.
Hi Rebecca!
Your blog along with an exchange experience and long-term travel dreams have led me to apply for this position! I am about to begin the application process and if you have time to answer some questions I was wondering if there is an email address I could contact you at?
I already appreciate all of the help you have given me!
Thank you,
Meghan
